James Eugene Carrey was born in 1962 in Newmarket Ontario.His family moved to Scarborough 10 years later,and it is said they lived out of their trailer till times improved, and they could return to Toronto.
After 12 years of stand up routines in LA's comedy circuit,and minor film roles,he auditioned for Saturday Night Live in 1991, (but was turned down),and finally got his TV break on In Living Color".(1991)
His broad physical routines,energy and outrageous characters began to be noticed,and he was cast in Ace Ventura Pet Detective.(1994) He now commands a $20 million salary,and has earnt an astonishing $125 million since Ace,on films such as The Mask,The Truman Show(for which he won a Golden Globe Award),Man on the Moon, and lately, the Grinch Who Stole Christmas.
